I Sew For Fun with Jacob

To start, both of my sons have enjoyed sewing little projects with me in the past. However, when I was sent Nancy Zieman’s book I Sew For Fun with some Clover notions made just for it, I knew which son would want to sew the most. My Mr. Jacob.

I love his bashful smile here! He had a fun time going through all of his new notions. I liked the retracting seam ripper the most.

We went through the book together and watched DVD that came with it too. It had a lot of helpful tips for sewing with your little one. =)  He chose the pot holder pattern since he likes to cook a lot and especially enjoys making tea. He quickly found the fabrics he wanted for his project and went to work.

I let Jacob do as much of the sewing on his own on my featherweight and took over when he needed help sewing through all of the layers. I still find it can be hard to just stand back and let your kids make their own mistakes and not worry about things like their seams not being all that perfect!

Seeing the results of a completely finished project done by them though is always fun.

Seeing their smile during the process and at the end is the best part for me! <3

Always,
